Liverpool star Florian Wirtz's girlfriend is TikTok sensation with 115,000 fans

Florian Wirtz signed for Liverpool for a fee which could rise to £116m, but his social media sensation girlfriend is stealing the spotlight after the Germany star’s move to England.

Wirtz, 22, penned a five-year deal on Merseyside which will keep him at Liverpool until at least 2030. The former Bayer Leverkusen playmaker makes £200,000-a-week at Liverpool, placing him among Liverpool’s top earners behind Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

Wirtz revealed he chose Liverpool because he believes they are one of the top three clubs in the world, and said his family took little convincing.

He is joined on Merseyside by his partner Aaliyah Cloßen, who is a model and social media influencer with over 100,000 followers on TikTok.

Who is Florian Wirtz's girlfriend?

Aaliyah Cloßen, known by her TikTok username simply as Aaliyah (@aaliyahcl), has reportedly been dating Wirtz since 2022. The pair have kept their private lives relatively quiet, but have been photographed together several times, most notably celebrating Leverkusen’s Bundesliga title in 2024.

Born in the early 2000s, she is a similar age to Wirtz, and is thought to be from the Cologne region of Germany.

Although not much is known about her professional activities, she rose to fame on TikTok, where she now has over 115,000 followers and 2.5 million likes thanks to her ‘get ready with me’ content, displaying her fashion, lifestyle and make-up.

She is also involved in modeling, and has worked with Cologne-based photographer Jonas Herrlein.

Aaliyah is regularly spotted in the stands watching Wirtz in action, and is thought to have a great relationship with his parents, father Hans-Joachim and mother Karin, as the trio were often seated alongside each other at Leverkusen and Germany matches.

She posted a video during Wirtz’s transfer saga with the song I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li, in which the lyrics repeat “I follow you”. One hopeful Bayern Munich fan commented on the post: “Munich is better than Liverpool is all I’m saying.”

Wirtz and Liverpool have had a poor start to the season, as the midfielder had to wait until mid October for his first goal contributions in a red shirt, assisting twice in a 5-1 win against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

Hall of Fame: Romario – Brazil's penalty-box panther with over 1000 career goals

Romario moved around the penalty area with the stealthy gait and sly gaze of a panther, ready to suddenly accelerate as soon as the ball came his way, to disorient the opposing defenders with a couple of feints, to pounce on the ball, which inevitably ended up at his feet, as if magnetised, and finish with an unstoppable shot of pure technique or power, or alternatively serve up a perfect assist for one of his team-mates. He was a Hall of Fame striker if ever there was one.

One of the game's greatest finishers

Having emerged from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, Romario achieved the highest goals a footballer could aspire to. His greatest successes came with the Brazil national team, with whom he won the South American Under-20 Championship (1985), silver at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, two Copa America titles (1989 and 1997), a Confederations Cup (1997) and, above all, the 1994 World Cup in the United States.

Romario turned scoring goals into an art form. Sometimes he scored on the run, after sneaking away and touching the ball several times with his favoured right foot, while on other occasions he was more direct, finding the net with either foot with his first touch or on the rebound.

AdvertisementAFP'Unmarkable' with a magic touch

Romario claims that, including friendlies, charity matches and youth games,he has scored over 1000 goals over the course of his career, a milestone he reached at the age of 41 on 20 May, 2007, when he scored a penalty for Vasco da Gama against Sport Recife.

It matters little that FIFA only recognises 760 of his goals in official matches between clubs, the senior national team and the Olympic side, making Romario the fourth-highest scorer in football history, though they concede his tally reaches 929 when taking into account his youth-team efforts.

"When Romario touches the ball, it makes a magical sound," former Italy centre-back Alessandro Costacurta said of facing the Brazilian goal machine. "'Tum tum tum'. He touches it many times in a few metres and then has the ability to understand when his opponent is moving, but above all to understand the movements of his team-mates first in order to pass the ball. Inside the area, he is unmarkable."

Robbed of the Ballon d'Or

Certainly, 'O Baixinho' ('The Little One') – as he was called because of his short stature – ruled the penalty area, but Romario was capable of scoring goals in all sorts of ways; with lobs or soft touches, with brutal power, from inside the area or from distance, and even with his head, thanks to his ability to control the ball and read its trajectory in advance. He won team and individual trophies around the world, finishing as top scorer in 26 different competitions, a record that is unlikely to be equalled.

Romario's magical year came when he won the World Cup in 1994, but at the time non-European Union players were not eligible for the Ballon d'Or, meaning he missed out on winning the greatest individual prize in the game. FIFA did award Romario the FIFA World Player of the Year award, while in 2000, he won the South American Ballon d'Or as the best player on the continent, but he never got his hands on the ultimate footballing honour.

From the favelas to the big leagues

Born on 29 January, 1966 in Bairro Jacarezinho, Romario grew up within one of the worst favelas in Rio de Janeiro. Despite the situation of destitution and absolute poverty, his love for football saved him, and at the age of 10, he began playing football with Estrelinha de Vila de Penha, a team founded by his father.

In 1979, at the age of 13, Romario was signed by the Olaria youth team, whose first team played in the Brazilian top-flight at the time. Here he was spotted by Vasco da Gama, who brought him into their youth academy.

Lionel Scaloni denies 'impossible' talk of attacker switching to Italy as World Cup winning coach hails him as Argentina's 'future'

Lionel Scaloni has shut down speculation linking Roma forward Matias Soule with a potential switch to Italy, calling such talk “impossible”. The Argentina boss made it clear that the 21-year-old remains firmly in his plans for the Albiceleste. Scaloni hailed the youngster’s growth at Roma and described him as Argentina’s “future” ahead of their friendly against Puerto Rico.

Soule waiting for Argentina debut amid Roma heroics

The 21-year-old, who has represented Argentina at youth level, has not yet made a senior appearance for the Albiceleste, though he has been included in several provisional squads. His form at Roma since joining from Juventus in the summer of 2024 has only strengthened his case, with the forward emerging as one of Serie A’s standout performers this season.

His agent, however, recently cast doubt over his international future, hinting he could take advantage of his eligibility for Italy by declaring himself available for Gennaro Gattuso's side due to the wait for his Argentina debut. That notion has no relevance as far as Scaloni is concerned as he said the youngster will get his chance eventually.

“Soule called up to the Italy squad? I don’t think it’s possible; he’s been in our sights for some time,” Scaloni said during a press conference. “We see him as the future of the Argentine national team, and he’ll soon get his chances. He’s growing a lot and I’ve been following him for a while. If he continues like this, there won’t be any problems."

According to reports in Argentina, Scaloni even called Soule personally to reassure him that he was always part of the national team's plans.

Agent’s remarks sparked speculation

The speculation emerged after Soule’s agent publicly questioned Argentina’s selection policy, suggesting that his client could switch his allegiance to Italy.

"Argentina has never called him, yet so many young players have made their debuts in recent months. Matias deserves a chance for what he’s doing at a major club like Roma,” the agent said in an interview with . “What if the situation doesn’t resolve itself? He can legally be called up by Italy; anything is possible."

Soule had previously turned down an approach from former Italy coach Luciano Spalletti, reports say, with the attacker’s dream being to play for Argentina, and Scaloni’s latest remarks suggest it's just a matter of time before he gets his chance.

Getty Images SportFocus turns to Argentina’s friendlies and World Cup build-up

With the speculation now settled, attention turns to Argentina’s ongoing preparations for the 2026 World Cup. The reigning champions face Puerto Rico in Miami, Florida after edging Venezuela 1-0 in Miami last week. Superstar Lionel Messi missed that game due to club commitments with Inter Miami, and it remains to be seen whether he will feature in the second friendly.

Scaloni is expected to rotate his squad, offering opportunities to younger players like Soule in the coming months. The 21-year-old could finally make his senior debut before the end of the year, potentially in the next international window. For Argentina, the goal remains clear, to build a competitive core for their World Cup title defence in North America next summer.

Barcelona player ratings vs Paris Saint-Germain: Another assist for Marcus Rashford, but Lamine Yamal frustrated by Nuno Mendes as Hansi Flick's team fail to build on Ferran Torres' early goal

Marcus Rashford may have enjoyed another encouraging evening but Barcelona were put firmly in their place by Paris Saint-Germain in their eagerly-awaited Champions League clash on Tuesday evening, with the titleholders coming from behind to claim a deserved 2-1 win at Montjuic.

Buoyed by an electrifying opening few minutes from Lamine Yamal on his return to the starting line-up, the Blaugrana broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when Ferran Torres slotted home a first-time pass from Rashford.

However, despite conceding so early, and being shorn of the services of their entire first-choice forward line, PSG gradually took control of the game and drew level seven minutes before the break through their 19-year-old striker Senny Mayulu, who finished emphatically after a terrific run and pass from Nuno Mendes.

Luis Enrique's men then bossed the second half and secured the winner their superiority warranted in the final minute of normal time, as the excellent Achraf Hakimi broke clear for the umpteenth time down the right wing before squaring for substitute Goncalo Ramos to slot home.

Below, GOAL rates all of the Barcelona players on show on a chastening night for the pretenders to PSG's European throne…

  • AFP

    Goalkeeper & Defence

    Wojciech Szczesny (6/10):

Did a good job filling in for the injured Joan Garcia, making a couple of decent stops and could do nothing about either PSG goal.

    Jules Kounde (5/10):

Kept it nice and simple with his passes but offered nothing offensively, mainly because he was having so much trouble with Bradley Barcola, while the Frenchman was also missing in action when Nuno Mendes surged forward to create PSG's equaliser. On a night like this, it was clear to see that Kounde's just not on the same level as PSG's right-back Achraf Hakimi.

    Eric Garcia (5/10):

Got the nod to start alongside Pau Cubarsi ahead of Ronald Araujo and justified his inclusion with a solid night's work.

    Pau Cubarsi (5/10):

Still hard to believe he's only 18 because he's so composed on the ball but his inexperience was there for all to see when he over-committed himself by going to ground to try to intercept Nuno Mendes' assist for Mayulu.

    Gerard Martin (6/10):

Had the odd hairy moment against Ibrahim Mbaye but he was probably Barca's best defender, winning loads of duels and passing the ball precisely.

    Midfield

    Frenkie de Jong (6/10):

Never the most eye-catching of players but typically neat and tidy with his passing and also made a couple of key interceptions.

    Pedri (7/10):

A total footballer, Pedri repeatedly won possession back for Barca with his tenacious tackling and intelligent reading of the play, while he also used the ball excellently – as usual. Ran out of steam in the second half, though, as PSG's aggressive approach to shutting him down began to take its toll and was replaced after Vitinha & Co. had taken complete control of the midfield.

    Dani Olmo (4/10):

Fortunate that Raphinha wasn't fit to play. Olmo underwhelmed, as he so often does. Had just one shot on target, which he should have buried, and didn't create a single chance – which is awful for the No.10 in this Barca side. No surprise that he was hooked in the 70th minute.

  • Getty Images Sport

    Attack

    Lamine Yamal (5/10):

Started magnificently, beating three PSG players during one thrilling run down the right wing but he didn't actually get that much change out of Nuno Mendes. Yamal would obviously argue that the Portuguese should have been sent off for fouling him twice – but the truth of the matter is that the winger's pathetic pleas to have Mendes dismissed only underlined just how much he was struggling against the man of the match.

    Ferran Torres (6/10):

Failed to make the most of one early opportunity but stuck away the second very well indeed. Pressed very well – which is why he got the nod ahead of the ageing Robert Lewandowski – but his influence waned the longer the game wore on.

    Marcus Rashford (7/10):

Yet another assist for the on-loan Manchester United attacker, who is really starting to find his groove at Barca. Indeed, it was actually strange to see him come off because he looked a threat every time he picked up the ball and the highlight of his evening was arguably a sublime nutmeg on Warren Zaire-Emery.

    Subs & Manager

    Alejandro Balde (5/10):

Brought on with just under 20 minutes remaining and took over from Gerard Martin at left-back. Found life just as difficult against Achraf Hakimi as the man he'd replaced.

    Marc Casado (5/10):

Replaced the disappointing Olmo as Flick looked to regain control of the midfield – but didn't help in that regard.

    Robert Lewandowski (5/10):

Came on for Rashford as part of Barca's treble-change in the 72nd minute but didn't get a single sight of goal.

    Marc Bernal (N/A):

Saw just over 10 minutes of action as a sub for Pedri.

    Hansi Flick (5/10):

The decision to start Ferran ahead of Lewandowski was just vindicated but Barca were pretty much second-best thereafter, with Flick failing to come up with any answers to PSG's dominance – despite the fact that the visitors were without so many star players.
