وأضاف قمصان خلال تصريحات عبر قناة الأهلي: “مبروك لجماهير الأهلي وكل المنظومة، نتيجة مهمة جدًا وأداء مميز وكنا نعرف أهمية المباراة، تركيزنا هو ألا نفقد أي نقاط في الدوري العام، ونعلم أنها البطولة المحببة لجماهير الأهلي”.

وتابع: “كان هناك هجوم كبير وصعب على موسيماني، ونعد الجماهير أننا سنبذل أقصى شىء لدينا، في 3 مباريات بالدوري حققنا العلامة الكاملة”.

وأكمل: “أشكر حكم المباراة محمد عادل على جهده، وكان من الممكن أن نكتسح المباراة بعدد أهداف أكثر من ذلك، كما أن الأهداف التي دخلت مرمانا لا يجب أن تكون بهذا الشكل، أمامنا تحديات صعبة وكبيرة في الفترة المقبلة”.

كشف عن سبب خروج أيمن أشرف وبدر بانون، قائلاً: “الأول كان يعاني من شد في الأمامية وبانون كان يعاني من شد في العضلة الخلفية، ومحمد الشناوي شارك في المباراة بعد جاهزيته مليار في المائة”. وعن استبعاد كهربا من قائمة المباراة، أوضح: “كان السبب وجهة نظر فنية فقط، والجهاز الفني سيستغله في المباريات المقبلة وفقًا للحاجة له”.

After initially making his breakthrough back when Arsene Wenger was in charge, things haven’t quite progressed as fast as Reiss Nelson may have hoped.

The 20-year-old has played just 42 times for the first-team at the Emirates, with most of them (17) coming under Mikel Arteta’s guidance. The England U21 international has featured predominantly in the cup competitions this season, and has yet to play a single minute of Premier League football.

And speaking before watching him deliver a sparkling Europa League performance against Dundalk, Arteta made it clear that Nelson had shown him a desire to really fight for his place this season.

He said: “Reiss was really convinced that he wanted to fight to stay here. And when you see that willingness and that passion and that security in a player, you feel tempted to keep him even though you know that opportunities are going to be restricted and he is not going to have a lot of continuity in his play.”

With Nicolas Pepe and Willian still struggling to find consistency in their game – they have scored just two goals in 18 games between them – surely Nelson can be afforded more regular opportunities to impress.

Speaking earlier in the year after the Gunners had triumphed over Portsmouth in the FA Cup, Arteta said: “We have pace in a few players up front. Reiss (Nelson) is a special player and can eliminate players one on one. He’s been out for a while but he’s back now and he showed what he’s capable of doing.”

That pace and directness could be a game-changer for Arteta, and really disrupt opposition teams as they look to stifle other attacking players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Nelson could open the game up with his speed and penetration and would be a very forward-thinking move to play him.

With the games coming thick and fast both in the Premier League and Europa League, now is the best time for Arteta to unleash one of the Gunners’ brightest young talents.

Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos spared Steven Gerrard’s blushes as he came off the bench to score the winner against Lech Poznan in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Light Blues initially struggled to break down a disciplined Polish side before Morelos ended his six-game goal drought in emphatic style.

The 6-cap Colombia international headed in a cross from Rangers left-back Borna Barisic to secure the victory, which means Gerrard’s side have now won their last five games in the Europa League (including the qualifying rounds).

Gerrrard singled out Morelos for praise after his winning header took him to 21 goals for the Gers in Europe, tying him with Ally McCoist’s all-time club record.

Speaking after the game, the Rangers boss said: “It’s fantastic for him from a personal point of view. Alfredo’s a top class player, a top class goalscorer, and it’s fantastic that he’s still here.”

SofaScore gave the 24-year-old a decent grade of 7.2 for his performance – he took two shots on target, had another attempt blocked, whilst he took 16 touches of the ball and completed nine out of ten passes at a pass accuracy rating of 90%. If you look at his heatmap, you can see that he popped up all over the place, which suggests that he caused the Polish side all sorts of problems. Solid effort, that’s for sure.

Sky Sports gave Morelos a 8/10 rating, whilst The Daily Record went one step below, claiming he “got just over half an hour for Roofe and made his presence felt with a record-equalling goal.”

Much has been made of Morelos’ attitude in recent weeks, with former Aberdeen striker Noel Whelan labelling the centre-forward as “petulant and childish” for clashing with Celtic midfielder Scott Brown in the first Old Firm derby of the season.

Petulant, maybe? Brash, almost certainly. But there’s no denying the fact that he’s still the best striker in the squad, as he has now scored more Uefa Cup/Europa League goals than any other player in the squad. If anything, it just goes to show that Gerrard cannot afford to lose him, if recent reports are to be believed…

Sheffield United have been heavily linked with Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster as they continue to hunt for a new striker. However supporters might not be happy to see the latest news which suggests they could miss out on the player.

According to The Daily Mail, fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace are now the favourites to sign the young forward. Brewster has been a permanent transfer target for Palace and Sheffield United this summer, while West Brom have also been keen to sign 20-year-old the on loan.

They go on to say that Liverpool are willing to strike a deal with Palace, but are demanding a buy-back option and sell-on clause for £20m-rated Brewster, and this suggests the Blades might have to move elsewhere.

With Lys Mousset out with a toe injury with an unknown return date, the club currently have 32 year-old David McGoldrick, 34 year-old Billy Sharp, as well as Oliver McBurnie and they could also use Oliver Burke up front.

Excluding new signing Burke, the three forwards who aren’t injured managed 11 league goals between them last term, with McBurnie getting six, per WhoScored.

Despite it being the division below, Brewster made 22 appearances on loan at Championship side Swansea City last season and scored 11 goals, whilst averaging 2.4 shots on target per game, via WhoScored, and this along with the fact he won the Golden Boot for the U17 England World Cup winning side highlights why the Blades are very keen to sign him.

Despite their top ten finish last season, the fact they might either be out priced for the striker or he might have picked Palace will come as frustration for Chris Wilder, and with only two weeks left of the transfer window, it might be best for the club to start looking at alternatives.

The would-be owner of Sunderland William Storey has slammed the proposed takeover of Newcastle United as he was exclusively interviewed by BBC Radio Newcastle’s Total Sport Programme.

Speaking on the programme (via The Chronicle), the founder of the drinks company Rich Energy described the takeover attempt by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian (KSA) group as an “absolute shambles” and “a load of nonsense”.

Indeed, the Saudi-led consortium, which consists of the Middle Eastern crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), his country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the businesswoman and head of PCP Capital Partners Amanda Staveley and the billionaire London-based Reuben brothers, decided to withdraw their own £300 million bid as they grew increasingly frustrated with just how long it was taking the Premier League and its chief executive Richard Masters to make their final decision as to whether to approve of the deal with Mike Ashley or not.

With the new 2020/21 season just around the corner, coupled up with the fact that the summer transfer window has officially opened, perhaps it is unsurprising that the would-be owners came to their decision.

However, the buying side have made their intent clear recently that they must fight along with the fans of the Tyneside club to try and get the takeover back on.

This will likely depend fully on the cooperation from the top flight and its CEO though as ultimately the final decision lies in their hands.

Speaking after his side’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Saturday afternoon, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has lauded his side’s “perfect” performance.

What did he say?

The Saints have endured a miserable start to the current campaign, with their 9-0 humiliation at home to Leicester undeniably their worst experience in their time in the Premier League.

And having headed into the weekend’s game in the relegation zone and travelling to the Emirates, Hasenhuttl’s side may have been fearing the worst. Instead, they were hugely unlucky to only come away with a point, with a series of missed opportunities towards the closing stages of the game.

However, despite failing to see his side hold on for all three points, the Austrian paid tribute to his players’ performances, and insisted they have now set the benchmark for what is to be expected of them.

He said (as quoted by The Daily Echo): “I think they can do it and I will them to do it because you have to. Coming now are two home games and we must have a performance like that all the time. That doesn’t mean we always play in that shape but today it was perfect and we surprised the opponent a little bit being so early on the front foot and trying to attack them very early.

“We won so many balls in the opponent half and had so often a counter attack situation. his was only because we were brave and didn’t want to defend deep and keep them away from our goal because of the quality they have in the final third. That was the right match plan I think and for this point I am happy but maybe a couple more.”

Make no mistake about it, Southampton were in desperate need of not just a good performance, but also a positive result too. And they delivered on both fronts on Saturday. The fact they come away from the game feeling like it’s two points dropped courtesy of how the match actually panned out, should really offer Hasenhuttl’s side a whole deal of encouragement.

It gives them a platform from which to build on, and as the manager himself pointed to, they have a couple of fixtures coming up that they should be looking to take close to maximum points from. The Arsenal game has given them some much-needed confidence that they can compete, and if they can produce something similar from now on, they will surely be able to avoid real trouble.
