Zimbabwe’s preparations for their tri-series and four-day matches against South African and Australian A sides have been hampered by injuries to at least four members of the 32-man training squad. Opening batsmen Tino Mawoyo and Terry Duffin and legspinner Graeme Cremer are battling for fitness days before the first game against Australia A on June 29.There had been fears for allrounder Keegan Meth after he withdrew from a two-day game last Friday after bowling just two overs. He has been closely monitored by the team physiotherapists, however, and was deemed fit enough to be included in Zimbabwe’s squad for their tri-series against Australia and South Africa’s A sides.Mawoyo has been on crutches while nursing a swollen ankle, but told local newspaper that he is “feeling a lot better and should be fine by next week”. Cremer has been laid low by a long-standing knee injury he suffered in last season’s Logan Cup.”Tino sprained his ankle and we were hoping that this would be a three-week job but sometimes these things take a little bit longer,” said Zimbabwe coach Alan Butcher. The injured players could not take part in Zimbabwe’s final round of practice matches and are doubtful for the upcoming limited-over games.Mawoyo was called into Zimbabwe’s World Cup squad earlier this year, but an abdominal muscle tear ruled him out and he was replaced by Duffin, who was also subsequently injured and played no part in the tournament. Both are fringe players, however, and it will be Cremer’s injury that will be the major worry.The best legspinner in the country by some distance, Cremer has been a regular in Zimbabwe’s one-day side, picking up 53 wickets at 30.20 since his debut in January 2009. National selector Alistair Campbell was optimistic that all the injured players would be available for the two four-day matches against Australia A between July 15 and July 24.”These are all key players who we were considering and would have played a part in both the one-dayers and the four-day games but it now looks as if they could miss some parts of the series,” Campbell said. “It would have been nice to have all the players available for selection as we wanted to field our strongest side in the one-dayers.”In the four-day games we will have more room to asses other players, especially in the fast-bowling department, where we have players like Kyle Jarvis who has been doing well at Essex in the UK, as well as other players.”

وشدد: “الزمالك خسر من بيراميدز ولكن سيؤدي مباراة قوية أمام الأهلي”.

Essex slumped to 115 for 5 after winning the toss before Bopara and Foster dug in to spark a recovery that took Essex to 248 for 8 by the close.Bopara, ignored by England in the five one-day internationals against Sri Lanka, made a solid 50 off 119 balls while Foster, returning after serving a two-match suspension, was still there at stumps on 58.The two of them shared a sixth-wicket partnership of 54 and Foster then joined forces with Maurice Chambers in an eighth-wicket stand of 69 that added to Leicestershire’s frustrations. The home side claimed the second new ball with Essex on 199 for seven but Foster and Chambers cashed in on some wayward and untidy bowling to add another 44 runs in 11 overs before Chambers was bowled by Nadeem Malik for 30.Foster remained defiant however and there was no further success for Leicestershire before bad light brought a premature end to proceedings shortly before the scheduled close of play. Leicestershire held the initiative until mid-afternoon with the Essex batsmen struggling to make much headway on a slow-paced pitch.Tom Westley survived a difficult short-leg chance to James Taylor off left-arm seamer Harry Gurney before edging Wayne White into the safe hands of Will Jefferson at second slip with the score on 29. It was the 20th over before Essex reached 50 but they lost their second wicket at 68 with Billy Godleman brilliantly caught by wicketkeeper Tom New off Gurney.But better things looked likely for Essex with Bopara joining Owais Shah in the middle until Gurney produced a superb late inswinging delivery to trap Shah lbw for 27. Matt Walker soon followed lbw to Andrew McDonald and the Australian all-rounder snapped up Ryan ten Doeschate in the same fashion in his next over.At that stage Essex were reeling and looked unlikely to reach 200. But Bopara, in determined mood, and Foster batted sensibly and soundly to take the sting out of the Leicestershire attack.Bopara reached his 50 off 119 balls with just four boundaries before a total misjudgement saw him bowled by left-arm spinner Claude Henderson offering no shot. David Masters was then excellently caught by New off Jigar Naik to put Leicestershire on top again before Foster and Chambers regained their grip. Foster reached 50 off 117 balls and at the close Essex had moved into a good position.

The ECB may prevent counties from playing in the Champions League Twenty20 unless payments are made up front, according to a report in the UK’s Telegraph.The board insists that the two counties that qualify for the qualification stage of the tournament – which will be the winners of the two Friends life T20 semi-finals; Lancashire v Leicestershire, and Hampshire v Somerset – have to receive the money to cover their costs from the tournament organisers before they are allowed to compete in the tournament that starts in September.Many of the teams that played in the first two Champions Leagues have either not received their payment on time or in full. Somerset and Sussex played in the inaugural 2009 Champions League in India, while no English county played in the second event, in South Africa in 2010, after a dispute between the ECB and the tournament organisers over scheduling.Richard Gould, who was Somerset’s chief executive when they went to the Champions League in 2009 and is now Surrey’s, told the Telegraph: ”The payment was late but was paid eventually, within about five months, and it was paid in full minus about 20% Indian government tax.”The Champions League is currently given a window in the Future Tours Programme, unlike the Indian Premier League which is regarded purely as a domestic competition.The qualification stage of the third tournament starts in Hyderabad on September 19, with both English counties scheduled to play the following day. Only teams from India, South Africa and Australia have been given direct berths in the main stages of the tournament, with teams from all other countries having to qualify first.

Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, who overcame an impaired eye to become a visionary and pioneering captain of the Indian Test team, has died in Dehli at the age of 70. He was suffering from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a lung infection for which there is no cure. He is survived by his wife Sharmila Tagore, his son Saif Ali Khan and his two daughters Soha and Saba Ali Khan. Tagore, Saif and Soha are prominent actors in India’s film industry.Pataudi’s career timeline

January 10, 1962: Scores maiden century in his third Test, 113 against England in Chennai.
March 23, 1962: Leads India in his fourth Test, in Barbados, and at 21 is Test cricket’s youngest captain.

Pataudi played 46 Tests between 1961 and 1975 and was arguably India’s greatest captain. He was given the leadership in his fourth Test, when he was 21, in Barbados in 1962, because the regular captain Nari Contractor was in hospital after getting hit on the head by Charlie Griffith. Pataudi was the youngest Test captain, a record that stood until 2004. He led India in 40 Tests and had a successful career despite impaired vision in his right eye, which was damaged in a car accident. He also captained Sussex and Oxford University.India won nine Tests under Pataudi and it was during his tenure that the team began to believe it could succeed. He advocated the multi-spinner strategy because he believed India needed to play to their strengths and used it to achieve their first overseas Test win, in Dunedin in 1968. India went on to record their first away series victory, beating New Zealand 3-1. Pataudi was the Cricketer of the Year that year.Pataudi scored 2793 runs at an average of 35 and made six centuries, the biggest of which was an unbeaten 203 against England in Delhi in 1964. However, many rate his 75, scored on one leg with one eye, against Australia in Melbourne in 1967-68 as his finest. Pataudi retired in 1975 after West Indies’ tour of India. After retirement, Pataudi served as a match referee between 1993 and 1996, officiating in two Tests and ten ODIs, but largely stayed away from cricket administration.Pataudi was the ninth and last Nawab of Pataudi until 1971, when the Indian government abolished royal entitlements through the 26th Amendment to the Constitution.He was also the editor of , the now defunct cricket magazine, and a television commentator in the 1980s but gradually withdrew from an active role, though he remained a strong voice in Indian cricket.Since 2007, bilateral Test series between India and England have been contested for the Pataudi Trophy, named after his family for their contribution to Anglo-Indian cricket. وبذلك تقرر إعادة اللاعب خلال فترة الانتقالات الجارية لصفوف الفريق الأبيض.
