Salman Butt, who was banned by the ICC tribunal for ten years, has expressed the hope that his punishment would be reduced following an amendment in the ICC code of conduct. Butt was handed the harshest sanctions of the three players found guilty of spot-fixing, with Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir getting bans of seven and five years respectively. Butt and Asif’s bans included suspended sentences of five and two years each, in effect putting the trio out of the game for a minimum of five years.”All I can say is that I am disappointed with the verdict, but I will only be able to speak at length when a detailed judgement comes,” Butt told . “I don’t agree with a ten-year ban and once the rules in the code of conduct are amended, which the head of the tribunal has also requested to be done, I hope the punishment can be reduced.”Butt’s hope for clemency is based upon the tribunal’s recommendation that the ICC make “certain changes to the code with a view to providing flexibility in relation to minimum sentences in exceptional circumstances”. The lawyers of Butt and Amir reacted to the verdict saying the tribunal would have given lower punishments had their hands not “been tied” to the code’s range of sanctions.Butt, who was captain during the series in England, was found to have not disclosed an approach by Mazhar Majeed that he should bat a maiden over in the Oval Test. The other charges that were upheld relate to the subsequent Lord’s Test, where Amir and Asif were found to have bowled deliberate no-balls and Butt was penalised for being party to that. Amir will appeal against the decision to the Court of Arbitration Sports, but the other two players have not yet said whether they will.In theory, the 26-year-old Butt could return after five years if he doesn’t make further breaches of the code of conduct, and participates in an anti-corruption education programme under the auspices of the PCB. Amir, who will only turn 19 in April, could also conceivably harbour hopes of a return, though in practical terms a five-year gap from any competitive cricket makes the prospect of a return that much more difficult. The situation is most bleak for Asif, who will be 33 by the time the minimum five years are up.

Variação para achar solução
Aguirre armou o time inicialmente no 4-2-3-1, com Régis de lateral esquerda e uma linha ofensiva só com reservas: Marcos Guilherme, Cueva e Lucas Fernandes na linha da armação, com Brenner na frente. Mas o jogo não fluía.

O Paraná se mantinha bem posicionado na defesa e o Tricolor foi buscando alternativas: mudou para o 4-1-4-1, com Hudson se adiantando, trocou Marcos Guilherme e Lucas Fernandes de lado e até Cueva como falso 9. Mas faltava inspiração.

Na bola parada
A torcida já estava se irritando com a falta de criatividade e, aos 36 minutos do primeiro tempo, reclamou de um giro para trás de Lucas Fernandes. Mas o camisa 11 sofreu falta e, na cobrança, Cueva encontrou Bruno Alves para fazer o gol.

Quase nada no segundo tempo
Aguirre voltou com Valdívia no lugar de Lucas Fernandes, colocou Júnior Tavares e Nenê ao longo do segundo tempo, alternou o time entre o 4-2-3-1 e o 4-1-4-1, mas não era uma noite de inspiração.

A torcida se levantou mesmo quando Sidão e seus defensores cometiam alguns deslizes, dando oportunidade que o Paraná não teve qualidade para aproveitar.

Próximo compromisso
Na quinta-feira, às 19h15, no Morumbi, o São Paulo recebe o Atlético-PR, pela Copa do Brasil. O Tricolor precisa vencer por, ao menos, dois gols de diferença para reverter a derrota por 2 a 1 na ida, em Curitiba. When Northamptonshire slid to 163 for 7 on the second day at The Oval, Surrey looked on the way to winning at the first attempt this time round but Andrew Hall and James Middlebrook fought back with an unbroken 120-run stand to leave the game intriguingly poised.After the first day rattled along, proceedings were more meandering on another heady afternoon of London sunshine. The patience on show from both sides was in stark contrast to the flamboyance of Surrey’s batsmen but Tim Linley’s four wickets and Northamptonshire’s eighth-wicket pair demonstrated all the merits that dour discipline can still have.Linley found the perfect rhythm early on with his unflashy wicket-to-wicket medium-pace, barely venturing from back-of-a-length on off stump, to ensure Surrey might yet come away with a first-innings lead.It was his morning spell that set the tone. Nine splice-jarring overs for 11 runs and the key scalp of Steven Peters, pinned on the crease lbw for 19. Though Yasir Arafat was below his best Stuart Meaker provided useful support and – but for overstepping – would have had Rob White, who eventually top-scored with 78, out for a duck. A ball that nipped back on a lowish-surface struck White plush in front only for the no-ball to be signalled. Having grimly resisted all morning, Mal Loye suddenly ran down on at Gareth Batty on the stroke of lunch, only for a quicker ball to slide past him onto middle stump.After lunch, White made use of his no-ball reprieve by picking off the few loose offerings and when he swung an Arafat half-tracker over deep square to bring up his half-century Northamptonshire were looking comfortable. First Meaker found David Sales’ edge, to make it four ducks in five Championship innings against Surrey, then Niall O’Brien squeezed a full, wide Linley delivery low to Steve Davies to fall for a duck. O’Brien felt he had jammed into the ground though and was disgusted with the decision.Chaminda Vaas fell soon after, missing an ill-advised and ambitious sweep to give Batty a second wicket and leave Northants wobbling at 163 for 7.It needed captain Hall to shore his side up. Together with Middlebrook he scrapped in the lengthening shadows and made use of a tiring attack. Hall and his Surrey counterpart, Rory Hamilton-Brown, could hardly appear more contrasting but his rugged, sensible 55 not out was every bit as crucial to Northamptonshire’s innings as Hamilton-Brown’s polished 74 was to Surrey’s.Middlebrook, ending the day unbeaten on 49, was equally accomplished and the pair batted through the entire evening session to surpass Rob Bailey and Paul Taylor’s Northamptonshire record for the highest eighth-wicket stand against Surrey. With the pitch dusting anything around 300 will be difficult to chase on the final day which leaves the game resting on Surrey’s inconsistent batsmen on day three.

وقال أوناي إيمري، في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “ميرور” الإنجليزية: “إيميليانو مهم للغاية وهو رقم واحد، روبن يعرف دوره وهو إيجابي للغاية كشخص، مباريات مثل اليوم عندما نحتاج إلى أدائه، فهو يقدمه بالفعل”.

وأضاف: “كانت هذه خطتنا، لقد أعددنا إيمي أولاً للراحة لبضعة أيام بعد كأس العالم، ومع روبن نعمل ونحاول منحه الثقة، والثقة تتمثل في أن تؤدي بمثل تلك الطريقة عندما تحصل على فرصة اللعب، مثل اليوم”.

وواصل: “لقد استحق هذه الشباك النظيفة، كان أداؤه مذهلاً، سيتدرب إيمي غدًا والثلاثاء وسيصبح أقرب إلى اللعب معنا، لكن بعد اليوم يمكننا أن نؤمن بروبن أولسن”.
