Bollinger picked up 4 for 61 to add to his first-innings tally of three wickets as Western Australia struggled to stay afloat, despite Shaun Marsh’s 94.At stumps on the second day, the Warriors were 7 for 231 in their second innings and with an advantage of only 88, they needed something special to avoid defeat within three days at home. At the close their hopes remained with the debutant Justin Coetzee, who was unbeaten on 15, and Steve Magoffin, who was on 3.While Marsh and Luke Ronchi were at the crease Western Australia had hopes of building a defendable total. The pair put on 99 for the sixth wicket before Ronchi was caught behind off Bollinger for 44 and six overs later, Marsh missed his century when he was trapped by Josh Hazlewood.The rest of the specialist batsmen hadn’t offered much resistance against Bollinger and his colleagues, who could almost have pushed for a two-day win with the score at 5 for 106. The Blues had batted themselves into a 143-run lead thanks to half-centuries from Daniel Smith and Moises Henriques, who each scored 52 to build on the platform set by Phillip Hughes’ opening-day 58.Their advantage could have been far greater but for some lower-order stumbles and the final six New South Wales wickets fell for 62 runs. Theo Doropoulos missed the chance for a hat-trick when he had Steven Smith and Stuart Clark out with consecutive balls and Brad Knowles (4 for 99) finished with the best figures for the Warriors.

Aston Villa youngster Cameron Archer is the subject of loan interest ahead of the January transfer window, according to The Athletic’s Gregg Evans. 

The lowdown

Archer’s Villa contract had been due to expire at the end of the season, but the club confirmed on Friday that he’d penned a new four-year deal.

He’s actually been sent out on loan before, spending the 2020/21 campaign at National League outfit Solihull Moors.

The Englishman has been billed as a ‘sensational’ talent by Birmingham Live journalist Ashley Preece.

After Archer’s future was ‘finally resolved’, Evans tweeted that ‘clubs are now looking at taking him on loan next month’.

And he’s by no means the only Aston Villa youngster who could temporarily depart in the new year.

Evans says that there are clubs eyeing loan moves for Caleb Chukwuemeka, Aaron Ramsey and Jaden Philogene-Bidace too.

The verdict

Loaning out Archer would probably be a smart move for Villa.

It’s clear that he’s ready to compete at a senior level – he was player of the group stage in the EFL Trophy, he scored a hat-trick against Barrow in the EFL Cup and he found the net against Chelsea.

At Villa Park, Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins stand between him and first-team football.

He’s already outgrown the Under-23s, and would arguably benefit more from playing regular men’s football in, say, League One.

بوفون حارس مرمى بارما الحالي، أوضح أن يوفنتوس طلب منه ترشيح أحد حراس المرمى ليتعاقدوا معه، وذلك حين عاد للسيدة العجوز قادمًا من باريس سان جيرمان.

وتحدث بوفون في مهرجان ترينتو الرياضي الذي نظمته صحيفة لاجازيتا ديلو سبورت، وسُئل عن مايك ماينان في ضوء التكهنات السابقة بأنه طلب من باريس سان جيرمان التوقيع مع الفرنسي.

وقال بوفون: “عندما عدت من باريس إلى يوفنتوس سألوني عن حراس المرمى، قلت مايك ماينان من ليل، لكن لم يفكر فيه أحد”.

Meenaria top scored with 69 to take India to 237 and later chipped in with three late wickets to keep Sri Lanka to 192.After opting to bowl, Sri Lanka’s Kasun Madushanka removed the openers before they could settle in and the Indians soon found themselves at 51 for 3, in need of a solid stand. That came in the form of a 100-run partnership between Meenaria and Harpreet Singh, who made his U-19 debut. The pair batted for nearly 21 overs and managed a respectable run-rate of 4.72 during their stand. They were separated when Menaria was dismissed by offspinner Rumesh Buddika. Harpreet added another 40 with Manan Sharma before he was stumped for 67. The Indians just managed to bat out their 50 overs, losing nine wickets in the process.The Sri Lankans failed to mount that target because they couldn’t stitch together substantial partnerships. The top order made starts but failed to carry on, save for the only half-century stand in the innings – the 51 for the fourth wicket between Kithuruwan Vithanage and Buddika. West Ham have suffered a major blow ahead of their Premier League clash against Southampton amid an injury update on Aaron Cresswell.

What’s the story?

The left-back has missed the Hammers’ past four games in the Premier League, and speaking after the Carabao Cup defeat to Spurs in mid-week, David Moyes admitted he is unsure about the defender’s status.

He said: “I don’t know (if Cresswell will be back for Southampton), I can’t give you an answer. We are missing him.”

Those comments were then followed up by a major revelation from Ex, who claimed: “Following Aaron Cresswell’s absence from the Spurs game we decided to try and get an answer to his mystery injury.

“It appears that we have heard similar to what Claret and Hugh have just reported and the diagnosis is a chipped bone in his back and this is causing severe pain.”

Huge blow for West Ham

Before his injury, Cresswell had started every single Premier League game this season, completing the full 90 minutes, and helped the Hammers lose just four times in their opening 13 contests.

It was no surprise that the left-back’s performances have come in for some big praise, with talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino saying just last month: “Talk about unsung heroes; I think Cresswell has been brilliant for them at left-back this year. I thought as he gets older, his place would be in jeopardy – it’s not.”

That followed on from comments made by Sam Delaney on the U Irons podcast, who said earlier last season: “But, at left centre-back, he’s like a secret weapon, because he’s extremely tidy in defence but, usually, no one is expecting your centre-back to be a threat going forward.

“Cresswell has just been sensational. He’s a shout, surely, with all of those assists, for Hammer of the Season.”

Being without Cresswell for a significant period of time is sure to come as a massive blow for the Hammers and leave Moyes gutted.
